The ML450 BlueHYBRID’s system itself is almost exclusively package in the transmission case. There are two electric motors that combine to provide 163 hp, and the proprietary transmission mimics the action of a CVT.

Combined output is 340 hp and 354 lb-ft of torque, and acceleration from 0-100 km/h is dispatched in 8.2 seconds. Fuel economy is rated at a combined 7.7 L/100 km, which is better than even the current 320 CDI’s rating of 11.3/8.3 city/highway.
