The Porsche 911 engine, unlike the car for which it was designed, has been a winner from the first. Indeed, I think it may well be the best production auto mobile engine in existence. Now with twin plugs, but still with only a single cam per bank and two valves per cylinder, it is incredibly smooth, flexible, and quick-revving. It still makes a wonderful sound but not quite so much of it, as the engine is part y encapsulated in deference to Europe a noise limits.
